Khandua and Pasapalli together!!! So much greatness! This piece of saree has weavings of both the handlooms. The aanchal has pasapalli motifs all over in red white and black colors. The chess board pattern is accompanied by a red body with flowers and animal motifs. From the right there are colorful flowers and then colorful elephants and flower climbers then a line of deers, then there is a trail of colorful flowers. There is balck phoda kumbha in the sides and the traditional Khandua borders. Pasapalli and Khandua together put so much magic on the handloom.
Khandua is a prestigious handloom of Odisha . Kataki and Manibandha are other names of Khandua Patta Saree. These sarees are from the village of Nuapatna and special Khandia Patta have the texts of the famous play Gita Govinda by Jaydev.
