Description

Keeping in mind the art of minimalism, we bring you Sambalpuri Ikat with Phoda Kumbha work. The body of the saree has a red base with beautiful combination of golden and silver Phoda Kumbha Work. The beauty lies in the combination of small and big phoda kumbhas which has a very systematic and symmetric proportion. The lower part of the saree which stands next to feet has a yellow border and has big Kumbhas in combination of Golden and Silver. The upper part of the saree has small kumbhas in the same colour combination. The Pallu of the saree stands very unique with a combination of Ikat and extra weft work with 2 big Kumbhas in combination of Silver and Golden in opposite sides. The blouse of the saree has beautiful small kumbhas complimenting the entire look.

Sambalpuri Sarees of Odisha are known as the finest handloom. Sambalpuri fabrics reflect an original style of craft known as Baandha Traditionally, craftsmen created Baandhas with images of flora or fauna or with geometrical patterns. More recently, new types of Baandha depicting portrait, landscape and flower pods are being designed. Baandha fabric is created using a tie-dye technique. The yarns are tied according to the desired patterns to prevent absorption of dyes, and then dyed. The yarns or set of yarns so produced is called 'Baandha'.
