Body of the Saree - “Vyanjan”. The whole body of the ikat saree consists of Vyanjan (क ख ग..) of Varnamala and textures of tribal girls standing with joy.
Pallu(Anchal) - “Swar”. The Anchal Part is weaved as Swar (अ आ इ) of Varnamala.
It took a time span of 2 . 5 months for Our Award winning weavers at Nuapatna to Tie-Dye (set the texture) the saree. Once the Tie-dye was done, it took 17 Days of expert hands to weave this particular saree.
The saree is a perfect combination of Craftsmanship, Education & Women empowerment. It shows the joy of the tribal girls when they are given the freedom, opportunity and encouragement to study the basics of the literature. Women in rural areas are often restricted to do so many things, most importantly, getting education. However, in recent times, they are getting the scope to come out of the darkness, get proper learning in the field of sports, dance , music and general education. Not in a very distant future they will rise and shine more than the brightest stars.
With this particular theme in mind, our National Award winning weaver from Odisha have weaved this intricate and unique piece of Single Ikat Cotton Saree.
