Pattachitra Paintings are one of the most famous and oldest art forms of Odisha. The name "Pattachitra" comes from the Sanskrit word Patta which stands canvas or chitra. It is a painting done in canvas with rich and colorful motifs and designs. These paintings showcase simple themes, mostly mythological characters.
With the passing time, the Artisans have gone through a drastic transition. From making painting on Tussar silk and Palm Leaves to using their remarkable talent in painting pure silk sarees, they are trying to preserve this glorious art form of Odisha.
The border of the saree embraces the traditional Pattachitra border. The golden lining along with the flower motifs of the border adds a certain charm to the six yards.
The Pallu of the saree is the most gorgeous part of the whole saree. It depicts Mathura Vijaya theme where Lord Krishna and his elder brother Balabhadra are returning after their win. The pattachitra saree depicts Lords o their chariot being welcomed by gopis all around them. The body of the saree beautifully depicts dancers and jhoti made all over it making it one of the most exceptional Pattachitra Silk Sarees.
